Internship Application Process

Applying for internships is not complicated, but applicants should follow the procedure accurately and completely. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

In applying for positions at the National Aquarium in Washington, DC, please follow directions listed on the positions' full description pages.

  1. Completely fill out the application and have your academic adviser sign it as proof of receipt of credit. Applicants must receive college credit to participate in this program.
  2. Attach brief responses to the three statements listed on the bottom of the application.
  3. Enclose a resume with two references listed.
  4. Enclose a transcript or have the school's registrar send one to the address listed on the full description page of the position for which you are applying. It does not have to be an official copy.
  5. Applicants may apply for a maximum of two internships per application deadline. Please enclose a copy of the entire application for each position.
  6. Make sure the position you apply for does not have additional requirements as listed in the position's full description. Example: Publications and media relations positions require a writing sample with your application.
  7. Make sure your application is not late. Application deadlines are December 1 for the winter and spring terms, April 1 for the summer term, and July 1 for the fall term.
  8. Mail complete applications to the address listed on the position's full description page.
  9. Applicants will be contacted by phone or mail approximately four to six weeks after the deadline.
  10. Those who are chosen to be interviewed will be contacted by the supervisor of the area for which they applied.
